Futurewalk:

creating our community's path to tomorrow

Imagine a community who co-creates the values that are important to them, describes what they want their community to be, reaches across their diverse population and listens to all interested citizens, agrees on critical action initiatives to address the opportunities they have collectively identified and collaborates as they execute their priorities.

The initiative is called FutureWalk, creating our community's path to tomorrow. We defined the geography as the New Richmond Area School District.  The initiative has been actively worked on since March 2011 and we recently completed Phase One, where we researched seven communities across America that have been effective at visioning and implementation and identified their best practices. Phase Two involves identifying and listening to our diverse population and crafting action initiatives.

We need your help.  This isn't about money.  It is about inviting our citizens to become a part of our vision, a part of our values, a part of our action initiatives and indeed, a part of the future of our area community.  We have specific roles for you, things to do, ways to make a difference, opportunities for collaboration, ways to lead.

FUTUREWALK:
UPDATE 2016
updates from our destiny driver champions

The Leadership Destiny Driver is multifaceted and serves the well-established NRACF program of the Leadership Trust Initiative, but also takes a deeper interest in the future of the New Richmond  Area as a continuation of FutureWalk. A steering team of more than 15 community men and women has been established to create visionary leadership with an urgency for forward action. This team will work together monthly to determine the action steps necessary for communication and further growth and development of leadership ways and values in the New Richmond Area.

Core Purpose: Literacy - the ability to read and write at an effective level - is essential to individual, family and community well-being. NRACF is committed to for collaborative partnerships with organizations, institutions and individuals that impact literacy in our community in order to develop a community resource bank and implement a comprehensive plan for achieving and supporting a high level of literacy from early childhood through late adulthood among all citizens of the community. The participating entities will work together to leverage, coordinate and enhance the awareness of, accessibility to, and effectiveness of existing resources as well as develop new resources to meet identified needs.

The development of a comprehensive multi-purpose pathway system for New Richmond, which would connect residential areas with major parks, schools, commercial, and recreational areas. The pathway system should also be accessible to existing county bicycle routes.

The core purpose is to educate the community on the immense issue that Hunger is in the New Richmond area and to collaboratively assist in decreasing/eliminating this issue with creative fundraising, partnerships, and volunteerism. It is our goal to unite hungry people with the resources, information, and the people necessary to combat hunger throughout the region.

Shelter: More than a warm place to rest, offering protection from the “storms” of life’s challenges.

The Destiny Driver of Economic Development includes a wide variety of efforts that seek to improve the economic well-being and quality of life in our community through the creation of livable wage jobs, retaining local business and industry, and supporting business growth and expansion. Economic development is vital to the future success of New Richmond, through the attraction of people and investment to our community. As an emerging Destiny Driver, opportunities exist for community members to become stewards and determine specific goals associated with Economic Development.
